Entrance requirements

 

The following are considered to be Entrance Requirements:

To hold a Master of Linguistics degree from the School of Languages and Literature of UAQ. In case of not holding the degree, the applicants must have concluded the 100% of their Credits of the Master’s Program, and have finished the thesis. In such case, having proved by a letter from the thesis director, the student would have six months to defend their thesis. Not fulfilling such requirement in the agreed date, the student will not be able to continue in the program.

In case of another Institution, applicants must also prove to hold enough knowledge about Linguistics and psychological processes related to language.

In case of a Master Degree in a similar area, either from the UAQ or another institution, applicants must show training in Social Sciences or Humanities that allow them to fully understand linguistic processes; and must show sufficient knowledge about the basic subject of linguistics and Psychological processes related to language.

Hold three Reference Letters from three Scholars that evaluate and confirm academic performance from the Master’s Program

Hold a Letter of Intent, and updated Curriculum Vitae.

Hold a thesis proposal of the research line of the Program that prove capacity and availability to conduct research. In case of already having an agreement with the thesis advisor, include a letter in which he accepts being the tutor.

Hold you Master’s Thesis and /or published articles that prove your research experience. The publications will be evaluated by the Selection committee of the Doctor of Philosophy to find if the applicant fulfills the academic requirements needed to be accepted in the program. Is a mandatory requirement from this articles to be individual publications.

Pass a Text Comprehension Test equivalent to 500 TOEFL points.

Interview with the Doctor of Philosophy Faculty Members to discuss the contents of the project and evaluate the academic potential and background of the applicant.

The results of the interview along with all the documents will be evaluated by the Committee to issue an approval or rejection. The decisions are final.
